Note: to make sure everyone s health is protected, if you have
symptoms of the flu, have recently traveled overseas to a country
under a CDC level 3 warning/level 4 Department of State warning, or if
you have been in contact with someone positive for the Coronavirus,
stay home for 14 days after symptoms subside, or return from your
travel. Thank you!Important Note: starting DEC 12 change of start time
is 6:00pm Let s meet at 5:45pm to get acquainted. We will begin hiking
at 6:00pm promptly. We are hoping the later time will allow all of us
to be on time. Hoping the trails are dryer so wear can wear some
tennis shoes. But if there has been a recent rain boots are suggested.
You may want to start packing water and bug repellant (and possibly
sunscreen) soon.
The visitor center closes at 9pm, but restrooms are available if you
use the side door on the left side of the building. Not sure when the
visitor center is open later for the season.
French Regional Park has both paved and unpaved trails with various
lengths and difficulty, some of which are lighted seasonally. The
unpaved trails are 100% open but are soft and muddy in spots. Please
plan accordingly. Depending on the group and amount of rain, we might
walk primarily on paved paths. Recommended items to bring include
comfortable but sturdy hiking footwear, insect repellent, drinking
water, and a snack. I d also bring along a change of clothing and rain
gear just in case it s needed. If you cannot handle hiking where
mosquitoes are present, you might want to avoid this hike.
