Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) is a Creative Arts psychotherapeutic approach that works withall forms of non-verbal and verbal actions to promote whole-person awareness and integration. Based on the intersubjective relationship of mind and body, DMT is uniquely suited to addressing personal and interpersonal clinical concerns on a holistic integrative level. It augments the Adlerian concept of ‘action’ in a nuanced and multi-faceted manner. DMT’s non-verbal assessment tools, approaches and skills also enhance clinical efficacy. This experiential workshop will introduce basic DMT frameworks and techniques and will include opportunities to learn and practice selected practical techniques for working with non-verbal behaviors. It is appropriate for all levels of physical ability. Barbara Nordstrom-Loeb is a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist, licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Laban Movement Analyst and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.
