clothes that are comfortable to move in like, leggings, biker shorts,
t-shirts, or other athletic wear. What to bring to class:Water bottle,
towel, positive attitude and a willingness to move.About the
instructor:I am not the typical dance teacher nor do I have the
traditional dance instructors biography. Growing up in the St. Cloud
area, I started dancing at the age of 11. I was very quick to learn
the technique of each style of dance that was presented to me. My
second year of dance I was asked to assist in teaching. While I
worked, I studied the mannerisms of my instructor and how she broke
things down for a deeper understanding. Soon after I found myself
taking a variety of classes at several professional studios in
Minneapolis, MN. I also studied a variety of dance at Perpich Center
for Arts Education. It was in a class there where I was offered the
opportunity to perform with a local dance company. My abilities were
also in demand to teach children and adults. While it was a very hard
decision, I chose to share me love of movement with others. Currently,
I am a member of CMAB TARP (Central Minnesota Art Board Teaching
Artist Roster Program). Through a recent grant obtained by a local
school district I was given the opportunity to share movement types
and connected it to social emotional and academic learning throughout
an entire school year. Previous to that I have been focusing on local
adult dance education at Revolver Studios and through a small
community group Gotta Dance! This age group is often left out of the
recreational dance realm. This summer I am proud to be a part of some
groups that are bringing some new fun and exciting things to the St.
Cloud area. First, in June I will be partnering with Desireé Clark
and Lucille Guinta-Bates and GREAT Theater to bring audition prep
classes to help people gain confidence in auditioning for the
2019-2020 productions. I will also be working with YESnetworkMN.org by
providing dance and movement education throughout some of the
community areas in St. Cloud and Waite Park.I truly enjoy teaching
jazz, tap, soft shoe, ballet, modern, creative movement and many other
styles. Dance has quite literally been a lifeline for me. I see dance
as a beautiful artistic expression that evokes emotion and calms the
soul. Sharing this with students of all ages brings such joy to me
heart.
