HARPSICHORD RECITAL SERIES: The DUTCH INFLUENCE FAYTHE VOLLRATH,
hailed by the Wall Street Journal for her “subtly varied tempo and
rhythm that sounds like breathing,” performs an exciting concert of
repertoire celebrating the Dutch influence. Beginning with Jan
Pieterszoon Sweelinck, one of the most important Dutch composers of
all time, the audience will be introduced to a variety of fascinating
works, and a history of the development of the Northern European
compositional tradition. Featured works will include Sweelinck’s
Unter den Linden Grune and Mein Junges Leben Hat Ein End. Additional
pieces will feature seventeenth- century composers influenced by
Sweelinck including Johann Adam Reincken, Heinrich Scheidemann, and
Peter Phillips.
