Expanding our Libraries: Youth and Children's Literature by Native
American and Authors of Color brings together teachers, media
specialists, and school administrators with authors of color, Native
American authors, and local bookstores and publishers to feature
stories and historical perspectives of all our youth. The festival
hosted at Minnesota Humanities Center will have three components to
the day: 1) book talks by featured authors, 2) shopping with local
publishers and bookstores on site, and 3) networking and
lesson-planning discussions. By bringing together these three
groups, we will expand opportunity for all youth to see themselves
reflected in the stories found in their classroom libraries and media
centers.Publishers attending include: Strive Publishing, Minnesota
History Center Publishing, Minnesota Humanities Center Publishing
Bookstores attending include: Birchbark Books, Minnesota History
Center Publishing, Minnesota Humanities Center Publishing
