Expanding our Libraries:  Youth and Children's Literature by Native American and Authors of Color brings together teachers, media specialists, and school administrators with authors of color, Native American authors, and local bookstores and publishers to feature stories and historical perspectives of all our youth.  The festival hosted at Minnesota Humanities Center will have three components to the day: 1) book talks by featured authors, 2) shopping with local publishers and bookstores on site, and 3) networking and lesson-planning discussions.  By bringing together these three groups, we will expand opportunity for all youth to see themselves reflected in the stories found in their classroom libraries and media centers.Publishers attending include:  Strive Publishing, Minnesota History Center Publishing, Minnesota Humanities Center Publishing Bookstores attending include:  Birchbark Books, Minnesota History Center Publishing, Minnesota Humanities Center Publishing Authors presenting include:  Shannon Gibney, Donna Gingery, Linda Miller, & Frank White Date:  Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Tuesday, August 7, 2018 Cancellations after August 7, 2018 are non-refundable.
