COME LEARN ABOUT FARM ANIMALS DURING OUR 3 HOUR CLASS WHICH IS
DESIGNED TO HELP YOU EARN THE BOY SCOUT ANIMAL SCIENCE MERIT BADGE.
BONUS OPPORTUNITY: FREE 4 hour VIP behind-the-scenes look at farm
ANIMALS ON DISPLAY AT THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR ON THURSDAY AUGUST 23
(STEM Day) or Friday August 24. Just purchase your fair tickets
and join our volunteer hosted tour through the barns. ( Bring your
paperwork if you haven't already been signed off for the BADGE ON OUR
EVENT DAY.)
************************************************
ABOUT OUR CLASS:
APPROPRIATE FOR MATURE YOUTH 6TH GRADE AND OLDER.
YOU MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN PARENT OR SCOUTING ADULT TO ATTEND THE
ENTIRE CLASSES -- NOT A DROP OFF CLASS. This is designed for a SCOUT
AND ADULT TOGETHER OR AT A 1:3 SCOUT TO ADULT RATIO.
To follow biosecurity policies, only the SCOUT AND THE ACCOMPANYING
ADULT MAY ATTEND OUR SESSIONS -- We will send more details in your
final confirmation. This is designed for all youth, so please let us
know if you need special accommodations. Explorers and Girl SCOUTS
WHO ARE ENTERING 6TH GRADE AND OLDER MAY REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT TOO.
Don't worry: even if you know absolutely nothing about cattle or farm
ANIMALS, we don't expect that you've already earned the BADGE WHEN YOU
COME. But you should read the materials we send you prior to the
event and do some of the paperwork as best as you can because you will
get much more out of this experience. This is a teaching workshop, not
just a walkin and sign off event. Then the bonus trip to the state
fair will be jam packed.

PLAN AHEAD
1) Regardless of your type of SCOUTING, print off the BADGE WORKSHEET
AND BRING IT WITH YOU INSIDE A 3 RING BINDER SO YOU HAVE SOMETHING
STURDY TO WRITE ON. Bring two pencils or pens.

Although this event is designed to be a teaching workshop, we strongly
encourage you to read the badge booklet prior to the event so that you
are familiar with terms and complete as much of the writing as you can
in advance. If for any reason you don't complete all the
requirements during our event, you can email them to the merit badge
counselor for final sign off.
2) Boy Scouts only: Get your blue card from your troop and start
filling it out. Bring it with you!
3) If you wish to go on the BONUS expedition ot the state fair,
purchase your tickets and select the date to attend with our
volunteers (Thrr 8/23 or Fri 8/24) You will confirm when you come to
our teaching event.
-------------------------
Be sure to wear your uniform during our event -- represent scouting
well and it will help keep us together in the crowds.
We strongly encourage you to wear boots because we will be around
animals and potentially waste. Many people will wear their "walking
shoes" to the fair and change into boots when we start, then bag up
the boots and leave. Make sure you clean the boots when you're
home.
Bring a refillable water bottle.
-------------------------
We look forward to seeing you at this amazing learning opportunity we
wish we had when we were kids!!
We provide thank you gifts to each of our youth farmers and their
animals who present during our workshop, so your registration helps
support these fine young people too!
