This two-day interactive program is designed specifically for hospitality professionals to help them become more effective and efficient at managing union workers. Participants will discuss and learn best practices for navigating the delicate relationship with employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement. This program is for hospitality professionals who are managers or supervisors of union employees. This is ideal for managers and directors who would like to learn how to successfully navigate management-union relationships for the benefit of the company.
Utilizing over 25 years of practical experience in Las Vegas, Bill Werner is an expert in labor relations. He first began in a private law practice representing employers and later became in-house counsel for Mirage Resorts (now part of MGM Resorts International) and Boyd Gaming Corporation. His experience includes every area of labor relations, from contract negotiations, NLRB litigation, and strike settlements to management training and grievance arbitration.
Continuously one of the highest rated professors in the UNLV College of Hotel Administration, and the winner of the college’s Distinguished Professor Award for teaching, Bill joined the faculty in 2001. It was then he developed the college’s only course in labor management relations. Bill’s students in the course consistently report very high satisfaction and emphasize how his teaching prepares them to manage effectively and confidently in a union environment.

Yes. While the instructor will not provide specific legal advice to individual attendees, he will review and discuss issues under any labor contracts they wish to bring along.
Participants are responsible for their own lodging, air, ground transportation, incidentals or any meals other than those listed on the schedule above.
Registration fees include: instruction, coursework materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon refreshments on each day of the program.
The campus of UNLV is a quick, 10 minute drive from the Las Vegas strip. Additionally, there are multiple lodging options within walking distance.
Yes. A certificate of completion will be presented at the end of the last day of the course.
PLuS Center courses are certificate-based development programs. College credit towards university programs is not applicable.
Yes. Substitution is permitted up to two business days before a course begins.

In the event a course is canceled, registrants will be notified as soon as possible and receive a full refund of their registration fee. The PLuS Center is not responsible for any travel or other expenses incurred by any participant due to a course cancellation.
A service fee of Twenty Percent (20%) will apply to all participant initiated cancellations received three (3) weeks prior to the event. No refund will be made after that date for any reason, but you may substitute another person to attend in your place. Substitution requests must be made in writing and no later than two (2) business days prior to the start of the event. All cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing.
