University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is an outreach arm of the
University that extends unbiased, research-based knowledge to local
communities. Educational programs and projects are developed based on
local needs in partnership with other agencies and volunteers. So,
what will grow in the vegetable garden when the temperatures are in
the 100’s and many plants look like they are wilting and ready to
give up? How about cucumbers, squash, and melons? These plants are
easy to grow, love the summer heat and they are exceptionally easy to
start from seed. In addition, starting in June may offer some
protection against the dreaded squash bug. Come join Master Gardener
Kristy McCumby-Hyland, the lead gardener in the Master Gardener
Demonstration Community Garden, as she shares the successful varieties
and growing tips for a tasty cucumber, squash and ***** harvest.
