Ever wonder who’s in charge of your favorite hiking trail – come find out the Squam Lakes Association(SLA) land management hike. We will meet at the Chamberlain Reynolds trailhead on Thursday, March 20, from 10:00am-12:00pm for a peaceful walk through the woods. This hike will be roughly 1.5 miles on relatively flat terrian. While walking we will do a deeper dive into what organizations play a role in maintaining the land and trails. We will also explore the history of Chamberlain Reynolds and how the New England Forestry Foundation maintains the land.

Collaboration between organizations in the Lakes Region and NH at large is crucial to helping maintain a healthy watershed. At the SLA we work with multiple different partners to protect and maintain many of the trails in the area as a way to promote conservation and recreation in the watershed. It’s important to recognize our partners, their specialties, and the work they do! This hike will be the perfect opportunity to look re-focus before spring and take a moment of gratitude for all the work that goes into protecting the Squam watershed.

For more information, or to sign up for this adventure ecology, visit the SLA website (squamlakes.org) or contact the SLA directly (603-968-7336). The SLA also offers other guided hikes and Adventure Ecology programming throughout the year. These free programs are open to the public and cover a variety of nature and conservation related topics. Adventure Ecology programs are presented by the SLA’s Lakes Region Conservation Corps AmeriCorps members, who perform important conservation work in support of the Association’s mission. To register or to view our upcoming events, please visit squamlakes.org/calendar.

The Squam Lakes Association is dedicated to conserving for public benefit the natural beauty, peaceful character and resources of the watershed. In collaboration with local and state partners the SLA promotes the protection, careful use and shared enjoyment of the lakes, mountains, forests, open spaces and wildlife of the Squam Lakes Region.
