Gather with friends and neighbors in remembrance of a great leader to celebrate the values he stood for and renew commitment to peace, community, and social justice.
The theme for 2024 is “America the Dream” after the song by Hancock composer Steven Schuch blending a traditional version of “America the Beautiful” with Dr. King’s dream for all people. The free, family-friendly event will open with the big screen premiere of the uplifting theme song in a stunning video montage. Special guest Cyndy Jean, CHS ’03, now Associate Head of School for the Hackley School, will share her personal journey, inspired by Dr. King’s message, of immigrating from Haiti and growing up in Rindge. The 60-year anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 will also be commemorated, along with student and community performances, student art inspired by the theme, and other features.
