FRENCH SOUTH TRAIL TO TUCKER TRAIL TO MOSES WAY. Follow around to the
Mill Pond Loop back to FRENCH SOUTH TRAIL. From there pop out to the
Patten Island Loop Trail to add a little more mileage and it's very
pretty out in there, then back out on FRENCH SOUTH TO THE PARKING LOT.
In total it will take 1.5 to 2 hours and cover 3.75 to 5 miles
depending on whether we the do the Patten Island loop. The TRAILS ARE
MIXED WITH BABBLING BROOKS, a varied forest canopy of pine, spruce,
birch and hardwoods, several pond areas complete with beaver habitat,
foot bridges, old roads, connecting foot paths, stone walls and an old
mill site. The area teams with bird life. Snowmobiles are able to use
some of the TRAILS SO THEY ARE OFTEN PACKED AFTER A NEW SNOW MAKING
WALKING IN THERE A BIT EASIER. It is frequented by snow-shoers and
cross country skiers as well. There are some small hills which can be
a bit slick so I recommend micro-cleats or spikes especially given the
conditions now.
