The Nashua Historical Society invites the community to learn and revisit Fort William and Mary’s role in the American Revolution.
The Fort William and Mary raids of 1774 were a singular event at the beginning of the American Revolution. This presentation will look at the history of the “Castle” and the defense of Portsmouth. The buildup of the raids will be explored. The conduct of the raids will be explored in detail, dispelling myths, and recognizing the amazing feats of common citizens. Finally, we will recognize the civil and military impacts.
A free event, doors open at 6:00pm. The event will be held in the fully accessible Florence H. Speare Memorial Library, located at 5 Abbott Street, Nashua, New Hampshire. A ramp and elevator are available. Free parking is offered in the Crescent Street parking lot, with additional parking on Abbott Street.
