Advanced Comedy Improv Class with Cat London at 10PRL

From Tue 7 April 2020 to Tue 12 May 2020
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Ended

Dynamics for the Experienced IMPROVISER Instructor: Cat London Improvisers will refine their #listening and #adaptation skills, to let go and approach #comedy as a gang of buddies. Students will redefine patience, swiping on a high note, and backline etiquette inside the standard long form structure. We will practice 3-beat game components, breaking structure, #scene openers, #object #work and #character #consistency. We will learn how to shake off the fears that make us second guess our choices, and learn how to say “yes” to ourselves while saying “yes” to others. Prerequisite: Level 2 Improv at any improv theater or its equivalent, 3+ years of college improv, or 2+ years in an active indie troupe. Dates: 6 Sessions + Grad Show Tuesdays April 7-May 12, 6-8pm Grad Show: May 13, 8:30-9:30pm Two absences will result in disqualification for the Grad Show. 14 Spaces Available Ages 20+ $170 -- Cat London is an improv comedian, actress, filmmaker, and musician. For 12 years, she’s performed alongside comedian Vegas Lancaster as Cat and Vegas and the Temple of Boom, New Jersey’s weirdest professional musical improv duo. Beginning their residency in 2015, Cat and Vegas continue to headline every first Friday at the L’Etage Theater for The Comedy Show Gates of Philadelphia. Cat and Vegas perform for weddings, comedy rooms, and improv festivals like Philly’s Duofest, Toronto’s Big City Improv Fest, Washington D.C.’s District Improv Fest, Bethlehem's Steelstacks, and NYC’s PIT Improv Fest. They are currently partnered with Long Branch Trolley of Monmouth County, NJ. The duo sings on pristine Mr. Rogers-style trolleys for a very theatrical ride down the Jersey Shore. Cat began improvising at The College of New Jersey with The Mixed Signals, and later performed in various long-form and short-form troupes like Shave and a Haircut, Bit Players of Newport, RI, and Howdy Stranger of Hackensack, NJ. In 2017, General Electric Lighting hired Cat to perform a 3-hour Facebook Live Creator's Circle where she wrote 10+ comedic songs about light bulbs based on the audience’s one-word suggestions. In 2018, she graduated from the Advanced Study courses at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Improv Theater of NYC. Follow her on Instagram: @catlondonmusic and @catandvegas
