Go back in time! Enjoy these illustrations by Richard Cali that
visually depict the lyrics of The Beatles, along with a few original
portraits sprinkled in. These little works of art were all digitally
created on an iPad Pro, with flourishes, swirls and colors that are
very reminiscent of rock 'n' roll's greatest era... the swingin' 60s!
On exhibit for the month of August in the library Meeting Room.
Richard Cali is a local graphic artist. An advertising art director by
day, his love for music and illustration takes up his spare time. He
recently began illustrating on an iPad Pro, using the Procreate app to
develop a new series of works. An avid music fan, The Beatles are his
favorite group, and these new illustrations are based on his love of
that music. Rich finds lyrics and songs that say something to him
visually, then illustrates the lyrics digitally in a fluid,
flourish-filled style that is very reminiscent of the 60’s rock and
roll era. Most of his drawings are black and white with a splash of
color, while others are developed in full, vivd color. Some are fun
and whimsical, some are serious. The portraits sprinkled in alongside
the illustrations are rich with characters he has developed. Rich’s
style of illustration is something to see, pieces that are clever,
whimsical, and fun. Come take a look and go back in time! Meet the
artist at a reception on Thursday, August 8 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, where
Mr. Cali can explain how he uses the computer to create his works of
art. Contact: 732-683-8980
