PHILADELPHIA! The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy is
bringing FREE performances, dance classes and more to community spaces
around the city with 10 free NEIGHBORHOOD JAZZ DAYS!
Join US on Saturday, April 4, 2020 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. at the
NORTHEAST OLDER ADULT CENTER FOR THE FIRST FREE NEIGHBORHOOD JAZZ DAY.
This event will feature appearances by Take it Away Dance, The Paul
Giess Group, and Rhenda & The Unity Trio.
Take It Away Dance advances the scope of American tap dance and jazz
music traditions through current choreography, modern compositions,
progressive performances and accessible contexts for the work. With
live accompaniment from the Jazz Tap Trio, they will present a mix of
their classic favorites, plus a preview of brand-new compositions. The
Paul Giess Group will bring flavors of New Orleans to present an
exciting set of hymns from Paul’s upbringing in the Unitarian
Universalist Church. Rhenda & The Unity Trio features vocalist Rhenda
Fearrington, Chris Simonini on piano, Jason Klinke on guitar, and
Harry "Butch" Reed on drums. The group will present soulful renditions
of jazz standards and original songs.
