THIS IS A 4 DAY COURSE! ALL DAYS/TIMES MUST BE ATTENDED, NO
EXCEPTIONS! SUMMARY: The purpose of the American Red Cross
Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants
with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to
aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac
emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical
services (EMS) personnel take over.
COURSE PREREQUISITES:

Must be 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of this
course.

Successful completion of the online Pre-Work (see below for more
information).
*
Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic
breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or
a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed.
Swim goggles are allowed.
*
Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place
their hands under the armpits.
*
Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
*
Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the
water. Swim goggles are not allowed. Surface dive, feet-first or
head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
*
Return to the surface and swim 20 yards to return to the starting
point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or
near the surface so they are able to get a breath. Candidates should
not swim the distance under water. Exit the water without using the
stairs or steps.
SCHEDULE:
This class requires online pre-work. Once you have paid for this
class, you will receive a link to the online pre-work. YOU WILL
NEED TO BRING THE PRINTED VERIFICATION THAT SHOWS THE COMPLETION OF
THESE MANDATORY ONLINE SESSIONS TO THE FIRST DAY OF THIS CLASS.
This class will be held on 2 days: PLEASE COME PREPARED TO SWIM
DAY 1: 3/19: Thursday Class - 5 hours (4:30p-9:30p)
DAY 2: 3/21: Saturday Class/Pool - 3.5 hours (10:30a-2p) & 4 hours
(2p-4p)
DAY 3: 3/22: Sunday Pool - 7.5 hours (8a-3:30p)
EMPLOYEE PRICING: In order recieve additional employee discounting to
bring the class price to $75.00. Lifeguard and Legal Guardian (if
lifeguard is under the age of 18 years) must agree to work the minimum
hours required for 2020 stated in the table below based off of the
date the Lifeguard was hired.

Hired Before 7/1/19 -250 hours
Hired Between 7/1/19 and 8/1/19 - 200 hours
Hired After 8/1/19 - 150 hours
REFUND POLICY EFFECTIVE DATE 9/10/19-10/31/20
There will be no refunds given for discounted lifeguard or pretest
classes if the refund is requested less than fourteen calendar days
prior to the first day of class. Our standard cost of the lifeguard
class and pretest is $375.00, if you are paying any amount less than
$375.00 it is considered discounted training.
In the event you are dealing with an extenuating circumstance and wish
to request a refund please know that all extenuating circumstances
will be dealt with on a case by case basis and MUST be pre-approved by
our TRAINING DEPARTMENT. Documentation of the extenuating circumstance
must be submitted to Samantha Swift (please see below for contact
information). PLEASE NOTE: Failing the LIFEGUARD PRETEST, not
showing up to the LIFEGUARD CLASS, missing a day of the LIFEGUARD
CLASS, or showing up late to the LIFEGUARD CLASS DOES NOT QUALIFY THE
PARTICIPANT FOR A REFUND NOR DOES IT qualify as an extenuating
circumstance.
