Theatre 3 presents an original work by Jenny Hoffman & Michelle Lawson-Hughes. What happens when a relationship ends? What if you could have one last conversation? Would you get everything off your chest, relive the beautiful and painful memories, tear open the scabs of a healing heart, ask all of the questions you buried inside yourself?

How the Stars Used to Shine There is a deep-dive exploration into the relationship between Adrian and Sam after they’ve gone their separate ways. Through flashbacks and reflection, we get to see a full picture of what it means to be a human navigating the choppy waters of love. The good, the bad, the messy, and the toxic.

Both roles have been double-cast with one actor who identifies as male and one who identifies as female to explore how gender identity impacts our perceptions of love, romance, toxic behavior, relationships, break-ups, and other shared human experiences. Each weekend, this production will be performed four times with four different iterations of the couple.

Performance Dates run April 16-18, 23-25

Thursday/Friday performances 7pm

Saturday performances 3pm & 6pm

Content warning: strong language, references of alcohol abuse, emotional violence/abuse between intimate partners
