Brooklyn Wholesale Meat Market: Mural Visioning Session

DEAR NEIGHBORS,   NYCEDC and Groundswell are excited to announce a new community mural project for the Sunset Park waterfront this summer! Please join us on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5 AT 6 PM FOR AN EVENING OF ART-MAKING AND IMAGERY TO SHARE GROUNDSWELL’S VISION, AND YOUR VISION, on how to best imagine this theme in the new MURAL. The event will be held at the BROOKLYN ARMY TERMINAL ANNEX BUILDING. The theme for the MURAL WILL BE “Quality Jobs in the Sunset Park Industrial Business Zone.”  Groundswell artists will research, design, and fabricate the MURAL BASED ON INPUT FROM LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS.    After the conversation and sharing of ideas on June 5, the lead MURALIST AND GROUNDSWELL ALUMNI WILL THEN CREATE A FULLY-rendered color mock-up of the MURAL DESIGN BASED ON THE FEEDBACK FROM THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE HELP US SPREAD THE WORD to the public and your membership for all three public events: * JUNE 5 mural visioning session at the Brooklyn Army Terminal * A community paint day will be held on JULY 27, which will be open to the public and provide the community an opportunity to get involved in the painting process * On AUGUST 28, we will be hosting a public celebration to unveil the completed mural to New York City We hope you will be able to join us for the first step in this exciting project!
