Originally built in Sag Harbor for Lester BEEBE IN 1820, this WINDMILL
HAS BEEN MOVED A TOTAL OF FIVE TIMES AND IS LINKED TO MANY NOTABLE
EAST END FAMILIES INCLUDING ROSE, Ludlow, Topping, Sandford and Sayre.
BEEBE IS ONE OF THE FIRST LONG ISLAND WINDMILLS TO HAVE A FLY,
regulators and cast iron gears and still retains many of its original
parts showing an interesting part of American engineering
history.PARKING INSTRUCTIONS:
Park along Ocean Road or Hildreth Avenue following posted parking
signage. Or you may park at the Nathaniel Rogers House (2539 Montauk
Highway) and walk south to the Windmill.
