Imagine living in a place where neighbors bring you meals after knee
surgery, offer to lend you their car when yours is totaled, or put a
bandaid on your son's scraped elbow when he takes a header off his
bike in front of their house. Where you can borrow an onion or find a
playmate for your child without driving anywhere. Where you have your
own private living space but gather regularly for community meals - if
you choose to. Sound like an old-fashioned neighborhood or village?
It’s actually a modern twist called “COHOUSING,” where you
choose your neighbors, and your neighbors choose you. COHOUSING
COMMUNITIES ARE INTENTIONAL, collaborative neighborhoods that combine
shared facilities with private homes to create strong and successful
housing developments. FLOWER CITY COHOUSING COMMUNITY LLC is forming
such a community, and invites you to learn more at a free PRESENTATION
SAT., Apr. 29 as part of NATIONAL COHOUSING DAY, sponsored by the
COHOUSING ASSOCIATION OF THE U. S (www.COHOUSING.org). The event is at
10 a.m. at 1010 East Ave., in the red brick building to the left of
the driveway on the Asbury Church campus. Registration is required;
please register by calling Kathi at (585) 461-1353 or email
info@flowercitycohousing.org by Apr. 27.
