Did you know Vivaldi composed the majority of his choral music for an
all-female ensemble in Venice? With actual Female Tenors and Female
Basses?!? Based on the work of the world-famous Vivaldi’s Women
ensemble (Oxford UK), this performance aims to re-create the sound
world of Vivaldi’s Venice, featuring an all female ensemble, with
some of BUFFALO’s finest singers on the “Gloria”… Including
Tenors and Basses! Come hear this special, unique, authentic
performance of one of the greatest choral masterworks of all time! We
are also presenting a haunting aria from one of Vivaldi’s recently
rediscovered operas, premiered by a Female Baritone, Suzanne Fatta.
In the second half, the orchestra will present Pedrollo's
“Concertino for Oboe,” and violin soloists of the Camerata in a
round-robin performance of Paganini's “Il Carnevale a Venezia.”
Afterward, enjoy Bellinis and Venetian hors d'oeurvres & sweets!
