Wrecked’s February edition invites two artists close to the party:
Jason Kendig and JADALAREIGN. Kendig is no stranger to the club, but
for this set he’s taking a break from his usual post in STUDIO and
bringing a techno set to BASEMENT. Kendig certainly has the chops; the
Honey Soundsystem co-founder has been completely immersed in the dance
music underground for decades, and plays with an expertise, fluidity
and sensitivity that is the mark of a true master. When it’s time to
go hard, he’s able to channel his signature musicality into darker
waters with ease. Ryan Smith joins him. The two are kindred spirits;
Smith’s knack for tripped-out groove is a sight to behold. When he
plays in BASEMENT, it’s a special affair. JADALAREIGN returns to
STUDIO to deliver the goods. The Nowadays resident has become one of
the most respected DJs working in NY today. Embodying and celebrating
lineages of Black expression and innovation, JADALAREIGN’s sets dig
deep into the crates of history, pulling from disparate corners of
house, proto-techno and beyond. Ron Like Hell swims in some of the
same deep waters. Both artists embrace the fundamentally hypnotic
power of house, tapping into the shadowy undercurrents to tease out
psychic liberation.
