Eelgrass Restoration Workshop

Join us for a day of kid-friendly conservation, fun, and education! Help us restore the Shinnecock Bay's dynamic ecosystem by preparing bundles to re-seed the area's eelgrass beds.THIS EVENT IS COMPLETELY FREE!  ------------------------- EELGRASS BUNDLING WORKSHOP  _10 AM - 2 PM, RAIN OR SHINE_ Spend some time meeting new people, enjoying the waterfront, and learning about the Bay's ecology in this hands-on workshop! Stony Brook University researchers will show you how to prepare the eelgrass bundles that we use to rejuvenate the bay's ecology and water quality. No registration necessary. ------------------------- PLEASE NOTE THAT SPACES FOR THE 2PM BOAT EXCURSION HAVE FILLED UP, BUT WE WOULD STILL LOVE TO SEE YOU AT OUR EELGRASS WORKSHOP! _IF YOU SIGNED UP FOR THE BOAT EXCURSION YOU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN AN EMAIL FROM MARIA GRIMA AT SHINNECOCKBAY@GMAIL.COM- WAIVERS ARE DUE THURSDAY BY 5:00PM._ ------------------------- IMPORTANT DETAILS: * PLEASE BRING WATER, SNACKS, AND SUNSCREEN. We will be outside all day, so be sure you're prepared! * DRESS APPROPRIATELY! If you are registered to join us on the boat, that means CLOSED-TOED SHOES, a HAT, and a SWEATSHIRT in case it gets windy. * PLEASE PLAN TO ARRIVE AT 10:00 AM! The time for the boat launch will depend on how quickly we prepare eelgrass, so please don't show up in the middle of the afternoon -- we may have already left! * PARKING DETAILS - please be sure to park at the nearby Southampton Campus parking lot.
