Gaia Earth Installation at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine

Join the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Morningside Heights for the opening reception of Gaia by UK artist Luke Jerram!

In honor of the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s passing, the Cathedral is welcoming Gaia, a touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram. Measuring 23 feet in diameter and featuring detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface, this rotating installation will be suspended in the Cathedral nave, offering a three-dimensional view of the planet floating in space.

Gaia will be on view at the Cathedral from September 18 to October 9 and is included with admission during regular open hours. Visitors are also welcome to experience a worship service underneath Gaia on October 4th in honor of St. Francis Day & the Blessing of the Earth.
