The NALEO Educational Fund, Assemblyman Robert Rodriguez, El Museo del Barrio, New York City School District 4, Union Settlement and New York Counts 2020 invite you to learn about strategies and best practices to ensure our community is counted accurately in the 2020 Census.
The 2020 Census will start on March 12. Our community’s political representation and the allocation of $1.5 trillion in federal funding for schools, hospitals, infrastructure and other vital services depend on data collected in the decennial census.
In order to ensure our communities get their fair share of resources, we must work toward a complete count of every person living in East Harlem/El Barrio.
As a trusted community leader in education your voice is critical to help us achieve a full and accurate count. We hope you will join us to learn about the best strategies for persuading the community to respond during this year’s census and discuss how we can work together to claim the political representation and resources our communities deserve.
The Schools Census Champion Training includes:
- An overview of census operations, including timelines and response methods.
- Messaging strategies to motivate people to participate in the Census.
- A guide to available resources to help you champion Census in your school building.
- Guidance on what you can do at your school to help families complete their questionnaires.
- Swag to help you message Census in your school building.
We hope to see you there!
