The presenters will provide a brief introduction to component content
management systems (cCMS) and then describe and/or demonstrate the
systems they use: Schema ST4 and Vasont. Benefits of the systems,
including document development efficiencies and substantially reduced
localization costs, will be addressed. They will also address the
challenges of implementing a cCMS.

About the presenters
DARA BARLEY has ten years of experience in the field of chemistry and
holds an MS in Environmental Chemistry from SUNY ESF. She started
with INFICON in 2015 as a Product Engineer and moved into her new
position as Technical Publication Specialist in November, 2017. She
tries to use her experience as a technician to inform her guidance of
the Engineers as they create content for end users. Dara is a member
of the STC CNY chapter.
JOAN TAGGART is a project management professional working in the
information technology field. She holds a BS degree in Information
Systems and an MBA. In a career that spans 25+ years, she has worked
in various roles from software developer to project manager. She began
working at Welch Allyn eight years ago, where she implemented a
component content management system to bring the department from
unstructured writing to a structured DITA XML-based platform. She
continues to work at Welch Allyn where she administers the cCMS, works
on configuration of the cCMS to expand its use, and manages the
content translations.
BOBBI WERNER holds a BA in English and Television/Radio and an MA in
English. She taught writing at Syracuse University for nearly 20 years
and also developed a corporate training and technical writing business
serving Niagara Mohawk, Lockheed Martin, New Venture Gear, United
Healthcare, Philips Broadband, and several other corporations in the
area. In 2000, these contract opportunities opened the door to
full-time work as a writer. Bobbi joined Welch Allyn in 2008 and now
works as Lead Technical Writer on her team. She is a leader in STC CNY
and STC Rochester, as well as the international society, where she
holds the rank of Associate Fellow.
