Curious about making your own glass COLOR? This class will cover the
basics of glass CHEMISTRY AND COLOR MAKING. Students will learn about
a variety of glass COLORANTS AND THE DIFFERENT MECHANISMS BY WHICH
THEY CREATE COLOR, and participate in formulating and mixing three
different COLORS FROM RAW MATERIAL. The second half of the class will
be spent working the glass directly out of the crucible kiln. Class
will also cover methods for determining annealing temperature,
compatibility, and approximate coefficient of expansion in the hot
shop. Some glassblowing experience is preferred but not required. Open
to all skill levels. with Evan Voelbel
