FEBRUARY 5, 6:00PM - 8:00PM CLASS 1, BOTH TRACKS, ADECCO: Financial
Accounting and Analysis.
This is the foundational class where we are going to learn the
language investors use to evaluate the financial feasibility of your
venture. Specifically, you will learn about the structure of and how
to construct three main financial statements (Income Statement,
Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement).
We will also cover key performance indicators, which are different
ratios used to measure your expected or realized financial
performance, and how to perform break-even analysis (or identify the
point at which your company becomes profitable or the number of
products/services you need to sell to cover your fixed costs).

FEBRUARY 12, 6:00PM - 8:00PM CLASS 2, BOTH TRACKS, CHANGING THE
PRESENT: Valuation Models and Financial Modeling Basics.
In this class you will learn how to value early-stage startups. We
will begin with basic valuation concepts such as the cost of capital,
total investors' return, and the terminal value. We will then discuss
two valuation approaches: quantitative and qualitative, and specific
models for each.
The models covered are The Venture Capital Method, The Discounted Cash
Flow Method, The Chicago Method, The Dave Berkus Scorecard, Bill
Payne’s Scorecard, The Risk Factor Summation Model, The Replacement
/All-In Method, and The Rule of Three. Finally, we will cover how to
create and maintain your capitalization table
In the second part of the class, we will talk about financial modeling
basics - specifically how to set the price for your product or service
and how to estimate demand for a company with little to no financial
history.

Present: Financial Modeling of Product Startups: 8 Distribution
Channels.
In this class you will learn how to model any product startup. We will
begin with the framework "Business Model Analysis Roadmap" which you
can use to create financial model assumptions for any early-stage
venture.
We will then cover how to apply this framework to eight distribution
channels, how to credibly formulate assumptions for each, and how to
model most common business scenarios. The channels covered are
e-commerce, brick and mortar, events, sales reps, international and
domestic distributors, big box retailers, and joint ventures.

Strategy and Financing Vehicles.
In this class you will learn about three main financing vehicles
(equity, SAFE and convertible debt), how they are structured, their
advantages and disadvantages and how to choose the best vehicle for
you. You will also learn how to evaluate accelerators, how to look for
investors, even if you have no network, and what other terms you
