Join the GOWANUS DREDGERS CANOE CLUB FOR A SECRET, one of a kind,
personal sunset cruise along BROOKLYN'S GOWANUS CANAL WATERFRONT IN
CANOES. After a short presentation where you and your crew our
outfitted with safety gear, we embark on a narrated voyage filled with
questions and conversation on how recreation can have a positive
influence on improving and encouraging environmental awareness and
activism in an urban setting.Paddle along our Gowanus Canal to see a
hidden side of Brooklyn, including the underside of bridges and our
transforming industrial neighborhood. Discover the fun of canoeing as
you explore the history of our Brooklyn neighborhood’s rich past,
present, and future.
Tours are offered Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from April
through most of September (departure with or without you so don't be
late). Rain or sound of thunder will cancel the voyage
unfortunately, but we will walk the Gowanus neighborhood instead.
After the voyage our guide will direct you to many culinary delights
within walking distance of our dock.
We provide equipment but please wear light clothing, sunscreen, bring
water to drink and a light jacket in case it gets cool. No
experience needed but you should be healthy enough to climb a
ladder. We guarantee you will leave this experience with a new and
unique perspective!
Sorry - no refunds and in the event of departure without you. We
host 3 peope per canoe so passeneger / paddler participation will be
determined at the dock. Passenger sits in the middle of a canoe and
doesn't paddle.
