Jazz Bastards are a NYC quintet featuring Matt Kanelos, Aldo Perez,
Jenny Mitchell, Nick Parker and Glen Heroy. The use of toys, costume,
spoons, tap and electronics mix with the 4 Jazz Bastard vocalists for
a weird yet reverent cocktail. Jazz Bastards presents standards and
original jazz compositions with a vaudeville edge. Instrumentation:
Drums, guitar, keyboards, clarinet, spoons and vocals. Aldo Perez aka
Mr. Nobody is a guitarist, singer, actor and composer. He is the
co-creator of NYC bands Psycho the Clown and Renaldo The and
co-artistic director for Theater The. (The Mystic Renaldo the, The
Shrine, American Hallucinations, House of Dopes at Edmonton Fringe and
92 Street Y, Radio Purgatory (winner of an Independent Theater award
for best sound design). A widely sought-after collaborator in the New
York City jazz, avant garde and rock worlds, pianist and songwriter
Matt Kanelos aka Wang Catalano draws equally from both his music
conservatory background and his 20 years of experience in the folk and
experimental music scenes of New York and Chicago. In recent years, he
has performed and recorded with Carol Lipnik, Jenifer Jackson, Jon
Lundbom, Lorraine Leckie, Richard McGraw, Andrew Smiley, Nick
Podgurski, and Jason Liebman. Kanelos has released four well-received
albums as a bandleader, most recently 2014's Love Hello, praised by
New York Music Daily as "a masterpiece of pensive, allusively lyrical
psychedelia." Glen Heroy aka Mr. Christmas was a professional clown in
The Big Apple Circus, was featured in the documentary Circus on PBS,
and is the official clown for Opera on Tap. A veteran Santa Claus at
Macy's Santaland, Glen is author of the memoir I, Santa. Jenny Lee
Mitchell aka Muffy Styler is a vaudevillian and singer/musician who
performed her way throughout Europe in musicals and operetta before
returning to her city of birth, creating her aliases Mad Jenny a
Weimar Vaudevillian and satirist (premiere at Pangea) and Muffy
Styler, a drunk jazz singer/comedian who regularly hosts variety shows
at the Slipper Room. smart and theatrically savvy NYTimes All Sales
Are Final. Seating at Pangea is communal. Other guests may be seated
at the table. There is a $12 per person food and beverage minimum at
the tables. Guests may order dinner or drinks in the music room once
it opens at 9:00PM Seating for the show begins at 9:00PM. It's
recommended to arrive no later than 9PM. Late arrivals will be seated
at management's discretion. Downtown's intimate supper-club Pangea is
the ultimate in alt, playing home to some of the best in alt cabaret.
