LATIN GROOVE WITH GERARDO CONTINOGERARDO CONTINO:
Gritty, witty and streetwise, the Havana-born Gerardo Contino, "El
Abogado de la Salsa," is a Cuban singer and songwriter. This former
lead singer of the Cuban mega-group NG La Banda is a party onstage: he
loves to improvise and to pull the audience into call & response.
Gerardo created Los Habaneros in 2012 and released their first album,
Somos Latinos, in 2013. In 2015, Gerardo also joined the Max Weinberg
Orchestra as the lead-Latin singer and the Larry Harlow's Latin
Legend's Band. With the Latin Legend's, Gerardo has toured in Japan
and Colombia (upcoming). Through his musical projects, Gerardo has
toured in Italy, France, Spain, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland,
Venezuela, Mexico, Peru, and Canada. He has played in international
festivals of salsa and jazz such as Toulouse Festival, France; Latin
American Festival of Milan, Italy; Festival Fiesta, Rome, Italy;
Festival of Múnich, Switzerland, Copenhagen Festival, Denmark; Salsa
Festival of Verona, Italy; and, Afro-American Roots of Maracay,
Venezuela. Gerardo has also shared the stage with such artists as Max
Weinberg, Oscar de Leon, Larry Harlow, Roberto Roena, El Gran Combo,
La India, Los Van Van, Xiomara Laugart, Carlos Varela, Alexander
Abreu, Frank Fernandez, Osdalgia, Giovanni Hidalgo, Kelvis Ochoa,
David Torrens, and Jose Armando Gola.
Zāna is an accomplished up-and-coming singer-songwriter and versatile
musician with a sultry voice and distinct writing style that combines
Arabic and Latin influences to create her ‘gypsy-pop’ sound, which
is both catchy and soulful, enabling her to flaunt her hip-shaking
belly dancing moves while performing. Originally from Oakland, CA, she
currently resides and performs in New York City. In 2016 Zāna earned
a BA in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston,
MA. Having collaborated with Grammy-winning producers Tim Mitchell and
George Noriega, Zāna has launched a solo career as a pop artist.
The evening will kick off at 7:30 pm with
Zāna and Victor Rosso-Two Solo Artists based out of NYC
Victor Rosso, a singer-songwriter and graduate from National Institute
of Art (originally from Havana, Cuba), have been performing a blend of
popular covers and Latin/Gypsy-Pop originals together across the
Tri-State area for the past year. Their mixed elements and musical
influences paired with their fun-loving stage presence make for an
overall captivating show.
