Description In this NEW program kids will learn the fundamentals of
distance running through engaging and FUN activities! Each class will
be different and end with a fun mock race on the last day!
Participants will be broken up by different ages and abilities within
the program. Participants will meet under the picnic shelter in Brush
Mountain Park (park adjacent to the Activity Center at 4520 California
Rd) closest to the restrooms. This program is for ages 6-12 of any
ability or experience level! Dress for the weather as we will be
outside, sneakers and water bottle every day. What is Cross Country
(X-C)? XC is long distance running on grass and trails. While it can
be viewed as an individual sport, cross country is also a team sport
with scoring based on the placement of the team's top 7 runners. This
6 week program will introduce kids to this great sport! We will cover
pacing, endurance, race strategy, mental strength, confidence and also
talk about the importance of good sportsmanship and fun! Kid's will go
through age appropriate workouts each week and the final class will
end with a true cross country race. Kids will have the chance to
experience the thrill of cross country and earn ribbons for their
