Michael Monhart explores some central ideas in JUNGIAN PSYCHOLOGY AND HOW THEY MANIFEST IN BOTH A CLINICAL AND PERSONAL CONTEXT. _INTO THE FROG SWAMP: JUNGIAN CONCEPTIONS OF THE UNCONSCIOUS IN PRACTICE_ In this talk Michael Monhart explores some central ideas in Jungian psychology and how these ideas manifest in both a clinical and personal context. With Jung’s wide-ranging learning and the broad scope of concepts such as archetypes and the collective unconscious, the practical application of Jung’s method can at times be lost amidst theoretical speculation. Micheal focuses in particular on formulations of individuation and the complex, the specific features of Jungian dream interpretation, and on looking for the archetypal level of an image. Material will be drawn from clinical experience and from Jung’s Red Book. The talk is oriented toward both clinicians and the general public curious about Jung and this method of psychoanalysis. _Learning Objectives:_ 1) Participants will be able to describe Jung’s conception of the unconscious including specific Jungian concepts of complexes, archetypes, and individuation. 2) Participants will learn Jungian methods of working with dreams and how to identify and work with archetypal material in dreams, symptoms, and in the transference-countertransference field. 3) Perticipants will learn about creation process of Jung’s Red Book and be able to draw parallels between the Red Book and his psychoanalytic theories. 2 CE UNITS AVAILABLE FOR LICENSED SOCIAL WORKERS AND LICENSED PSYCHOANALYSTS Jungian Psychoanalytic Association is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed psychoanalysts. #P-0025 Jungian Psychoanalytic Association is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers. #SW-0438 _Michael Monhart (M.A., S.T.M., LP) is a psychoanalyst in private practice in New York City.
