Into the Frog Swamp: Jungian Conceptions of the Unconscious in Practice

Michael Monhart explores some central ideas in JUNGIAN PSYCHOLOGY AND HOW THEY MANIFEST IN BOTH A CLINICAL AND PERSONAL CONTEXT. _INTO THE FROG SWAMP: JUNGIAN CONCEPTIONS OF THE UNCONSCIOUS IN PRACTICE_ In this talk Michael Monhart explores some central ideas in Jungian psychology and how these ideas manifest in both a clinical and personal context. With Jung’s wide-ranging learning and the broad scope of concepts such as archetypes and the collective unconscious, the practical application of Jung’s method can at times be lost amidst theoretical speculation. Micheal focuses in particular on formulations of individuation and the complex, the specific features of Jungian dream interpretation, and on looking for the archetypal level of an image. Material will be drawn from clinical experience and from Jung’s Red Book. He is also a Tibetan translator and is the co-editor and translator of Enticements (SUNY 2018), the short stories of the Tibetan author Pema Tseden. _
