Join us for the March 2019 Rochester Regional Breastfeeding Coalition
meeting for a discussion about... _CURRENT BREASTMILK RESEARCH
INITIATIVES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER_
Bridget Young PhD, CLC will discuss how obesity and insulin resistance
impact breast milk composition and the downstream affects on the
recipient infant. She will also discuss her work with milk banks and
the study of the nutrient variation in donor milk.
Kirsi Jarvinen-Seppo, MD, PhD will discuss the role of early
environmental exposures, including human milk component,s in the
establishment of the microbiome and infant immune system, and how
those impact tolerance and development of allergic diseases. Her work
on an NIH-funded birth cohort where Old Order Mennonites and Rochester
families serve as model populations at different risk for allergic
diseases will help us better understand the aspects of developmental
immunology pertinent for future strategies in primary prevention of
atopic diseases.
