In this 12-hour class, we’ll cover the Nine Core Competency Areas
for Technical Communicators that are evaluated by the Certified
Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) Foundation Exam.

The class facilitator, Ben Woelk, CISSP, CPTC is an accredited CPTC
trainer. RIT is an Approved Training Organization.
This CPTC foundation exam preparatory class is being offered in
conjunction with the Rochester Chapter of the Society for Technical
Communication Spectrum Conference

Spectrum Conference attendees receive a registration discount that
offsets the cost of Spectrum attendance.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CLASS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE EXAM FEE NOR PROVIDE
TIME TO TAKE THE EXAM. The online exam can be booked directly through
APMG at https://apmg-international.com/product/cptc
[https://apmg-international.com/product/cptc], and is proctored
remotely. The exam fee is currently ~$250 for STC members, ~$495 for
non-members. Attendees have one year to take the exam after purchasing
it from APMG.
Although not required at the TRAINING CLASS, we strongly recommend you
study the body of knowledge for the exam, Richard Johnson-Sheehan,
_Technical Communication Today_. Either the 5th or 6th edition is

group hosted on Slack.

On day one, the class will meet from 8:30 AM-5:30 PM, Saturday, 21
March, 2020 with a one-hour break for lunch. Lunch is provided on
Saturday.
On day two, the class will meet from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM, Sunday, 22
March, 2020. Lunch will not be provided.
Ticket sales end on 3/20/2020.
