In the Orthodox Church, the season of Great Lent is the 40-day season of preparation for Holy Week and Pascha (known as Easter in English), the Resurrection of Christ. Great Lent is a time of repentance and renewed devotion via prayer, confession, fasting, and almsgiving. We invite you to worship with us at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 369 Green Avenue, East Meadow. The more ancient form of the liturgy, The Divine Liturgy of Saint Basil the Great, is celebrated at 9:30 AM every Lenten Sunday (from March 5 to April 2 this year). Each of the Sundays of Great Lent has its own special theme, which is reflected in the New Testament readings and hymns of that day, as well as the sermon. The Divine Liturgy is followed by coffee hour with Lenten foods. All services are conducted in English.
Holy Trinity is a diverse community of Orthodox Christians worshipping God in the fullness of the Church’s ancient tradition and liturgical life. The parish, founded in 1924, is the first Orthodox Christian parish in the Nassau/Suffolk area and centrally located in mid-island East Meadow. We are open to all people seeking a community rooted in the oldest Christian Church with an emphasis on sacraments, prayer, Holy Scripture, and theology.
The Divine Liturgy (Eucharist) is celebrated every Sunday and feast day at 9:30 AM. Please be aware that only Orthodox Christians are allowed to partake of the Eucharist and other sacraments according to the Church’s canons, but all are welcome to receive a blessing. Vespers (evening prayer) are served every Saturday and on the eve of feast days at 6 PM. Holy Trinity parish follows New York State COVID-19 guidelines. Services are also streamed on
