Vera House, Inc. [http://www.verahouse.org] will host a CLOTHESLINE
DISPLAY ON THE THIRD FLOOR LEVEL OF THE CANYON AREA AT DESTINY USA.
Over 300 shirts will be DISPLAYED PORTRAYING THE MESSAGES OF SURVIVORS
OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ABUSE. American Sign Language interpretation
will be available Wednesday, April 26th. The exhibit is free and open
to the public. The Clothesline Display is presented annually in April
during National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, to pay tribute to the
strength and courage of women, children, and male survivors of sexual
assault and abuse. Individuals use this opportunity to express
themselves through words and art design on a t-shirt. This display
provides the community the chance to bear witness to these personal
experiences of being victims of violence and also to celebrate their
transformation from victim to survivor. The display sends a powerful
message that gives sexual assault and abuse a voice as a community
problem.
