NEW! NWEA’S MAP GROWTH COMPUTER ADAPTIVE ASSESSMENT FOR THE
2019–20 SCHOOL YEARAs you may have already seen in the April 30th
edition of _Principals Weekly_, NWEA’s Measures of Academic Progress
(MAP) Growth assessments will be a supported Periodic Assessment
option for schools beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. MAP Growth
is a computer adaptive assessment and will be replacing Performance
Series in the Periodic Assessment portfolio beginning in September
2019. MAP Growth offers comparable and additional grades and subjects
as Performance Series. It will be available for grades K–12 in ELA
(Reading and Language Arts), grades K–8 in Math, High School Algebra
I, Algebra II, and Geometry, and grades 3–8 in Science. Schools will
be able to choose MAP Growth as part of their 2019–20 school year
formative assessment strategy in the Periodic Assessment Selection
Tool beginning in June 2019; use of the assessment is free for
schools.
Administrators and school leaders are invited to attend in-person
informational sessions in July to learn about MAP and how schools can
transition from Performance Series to MAP Growth.
This session will provide:
* an overview of MAP Growth assessments
* hands-on experience with assessment items in available grades and
subjects
* overview of assessment administration
* overview of MAP Growth assessment scores and reports
* guidance on transitioning from Performance Series to MAP Growth.
This session will be held in a computer lab so you do not need to
bring a laptop or device, as you will have access to a computer. Bring
a form of identification.
