Join us for an intimate, two-part experience, “Don’t Touch My Crown: Black Hair Politics in the Workplace”. The first part of the program will consist of a discussion and the second part will be a “paint and sip” where event attendees will enjoy refreshments while painting an empowering photo of a Black woman. The politics surrounding Black women and our hair can be nuanced and challenging, yet also powerful. Especially for Black women in the workplace, the role of our hair in our presentation and identity is an evolving and never-ending journey. We also hope to create a space in which Black women can offer support, advice, and encouragement to each other surrounding this topic while enjoying the love and light of each other. Attendees will also be entered to win various raffle prizes from local, Black-owned businesses.
The following experiences are available for your enjoyment:
*The Melanin Experience - Join us for a light, decadent Sunday afternoon fare while we discuss our experiences with Black hair politics in the workplace. (FREE -- please be sure to RSVP on this website)
*The Brown Sugar & Honey Experience - Enjoy the Melanin Experience, have a sip (or two!) of wine if you wish, then tap into your inner Kehinde Wiley as we sip and paint the masterpiece below to adorn our walls at work or at home. ($40) Submit payment
*The Curls & Coils Experience - Indulge in all the above and leave with a custom "Don't Touch My Crown" shirt. ($60) Submit payment
We cannot wait to see you!
