This interactive forum will discuss the intersection of POVERTY AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM An intersection is defined as a common point where two things meet. Understanding the cycle of poverty and the Criminal Justice system starts with identifying the correlation. The Greensboro Criminal Justice Advisory Commission is presenting an interactive forum on poverty in Greensboro and how poverty can affect someone in the Criminal justice system. The forum will be led by Michelle Gethers- Clark, President & CEO of United Way of Greater Greensboro and Steve Friedland, Senior Scholar and Professor of Law at the Elon Law School. This forum will include data from the 2017 NC Self Sufficiency Standard Report and discussion on how things such as bail, and other court fees can affect the cycle of poverty.
