EVENT.FLOODING IS BECOMING MORE COMMON IN WILMINGTON AND SURROUNDING
COASTAL COMMUNITIES as sea levels rise and storm intensity
increases. COASTAL RESIDENTS CAN PROVIDE important details of storms
and FLOODING THAT HELP CITIES AND PLANNERS DESIGN SOLUTIONS.
Join us for a fun and interactive afternoon where you will role-play
as a resilience planner to decide how the North Carolina coastline
should handle flooding and sea level rise.
In this program we’ll learn about the social, environmental, and
economic implications of coastal flooding and sea level rise. We’ll
work together to better understand and discuss the needs
of community stakeholders, the environmental impacts, and potential
policy solutions. At the conclusion of the workshop we will examine
and measure the growing issue of coastal flooding on our own roads,
neighborhoods, and backyards.
