DESCRIPTION:High school seniors are taking selfies and submitting them
as yearbook pictures. National photography chains are monopolizing
school contracts. Uneducated and inexperienced photographers are
underpricing the industry. It sounds so doom and gloom, doesn't
it? Unfortunately, it's a reality for many photographers who are
stuggling. How are we even supposed to compete?
Award winning photographer, Jeff Hedgecock, my have some of the
answers. As a second generation photographer and business owner, he
has watched the industry change drastically, yet his 6,000 squiare
foot Huntington, West Virginia studio is busier than it was 56 years
ago when it opened. That's because Jeff has figured out a way to
compete with the big boys and he's willing to share what he knows with
us.
ABOUT JEFF HEDGECOCK:
56 years ago Jeff's parents, Ted and Fonda Hedgecock, founded
Hedgecock's Studio of Professional Photography in one of the poorest
areas in West Virginia. They got their start with only one sports
team. Jeff is now the owner and his studio has 120 sports teams, 15
daycares, and photographs hundreds, if not thousands of school
children each year. With 35 years experience under his belt, Jeff
will talk about how he books schools, daycares, and sports leagues.
He will cover everything from booking the job to how he photographs
it; from post production to delivery; to the final steps of re-booking
that job for the next season. He will also show you how to grow your
business. He has some pretty interesting concepts that he puts into
practice which allows him and his staff to survive when others are
struggling. We hope you will join us!
