A special Meetup to celebrate the HOLIDAY SEASON, won't you join US at
"Wasabi" in the Montrose area, next to Route 77, at the Route 18 exit.
The MONKS HAVE BEEN TO THIS RESTAURANT BEFORE AND ENJOYED THE CUISINE
SO MUCH THAT THEY'VE INDICATED THEY WOULD LIKE TO COME BACK. I have
reserved the biggest table that will seat 16 people. The food is
great--with tea, soup, salad and appetizer before the chef displays
his talent preparing the entrees right before your eyes, as the table
is mostly a huge grill. It's very reasonably priced at lunch time for
a full course meal, around $10.00 to $12.00 per person, plus mandatory
18% tip for large table crowds (see their website for more info and
menu options) You will be expected to pay for your own meal. There may
be an extra Monk coming, which leaves only 7 openings available. Open
to members who have been to at least one of our Meetups in the
past. All starts around at 11:00 a.m. when the restaurant opens. Okay
to chit chat, ask a few questions during our visit, as they love to
practice their English. About 11:15 or so, the Monks will chant a
short blessing, before they start serving appetizers and such. Then
afterwards, Monks will again offer a prayer for the meal, plus offer
blessings to all before we conclude. So here's a good opportunity to
get acquainted with Monks, make friends, get blessings, all while
having a special holiday treat. Usually wraps up around 1:00 or so,
but last time we didn't get out of there until 1:30 due to the long
winded chef with lotsa stories. This visit we will try to reserve
their Buddhist chef from Thailand. This will be a fun time, hardly all
so serious or a solemn event, except during prayer time...
