Basic Stroke Emergency Support: Improving Stroke Outcomes
Stroke is the second leading cause of death worldwide. This interactive course is designed to expand the knowledge of physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, first responders and general public. It will cover topics including basic anatomy, signs and risk factors, stroke scales, and treatment methods and outcomes.
Objectives
• Education to obtain and maintain joint commission certification for health care personnel providing stroke care.
• Provide comprehensive stroke and acute neurological emergency basic education.
• Discuss updates on the most recent advances on acute stroke care.
• Discuss intracranial Hemorrhage management and future advances in treatment.
• Review 2018 AHA/ASA update featuring Defuse III and Dawn Trials, expanding the thrombectomy window.
• Discuss current updates in neuro critical care: management of cerebral vasospasm in SAH, temperature management in stroke, managing cerebral edema and intracranial pressure, reversal of Warfarin and NOAC’s.
