MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING (MI) is a person-centered, guiding method of
communication to elicit and strengthen motivation for change. MI is an
evidence-based practice, with hundreds of clinical trials
demonstrating its efficacy across a broad range of populations and
target behaviors.
This 2-day workshop is an intensive introduction to Motivational
Interviewing (MI). It will provide participants with an overview of
the theory, principles, and skills of MI. Participants will be guided
through a sequence of experiential exercises to explore and shape
communication practices and begin the process of increasing
proficiency in MI. Learning activities will include: demonstrations,
video examples, role plays, case studies, small group exercises, and
significant participant practice with feedback.
_Target Audience: _
This workshop is appropriate for professionals or volunteers who are
in a role of helping clients/patients/students, or educating
individuals/groups, with a goal of making and sustaining healthy
behavior change. This includes, but is not limited to: counselors,
probation officers, health educators, psychologists, physicians,
nurses, care managers, dieticians, social workers, occupational
therapists, teachers, academic advisors, life coaches, clergy,
physical therapists, personal trainers, etc.

_Continuing Professional Education:_
We have partnered with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and
Substance Abuse (ODMHSAS) to sponnsor continuing education credit. The
workshop is approved for 13 hours of continuing education for LPC,
LMFT, LCSW, CADC/LADC, Psychologists, Case Managers, and Peer
Specialists (CPS).
_Proceeds will go toward supporting programs for college students who
aged out of the foster care system._
