The PNW Survival Games is a one-of-a-kind outdoor survival competition and weekend experience held in the beautiful forests of the Pacific Northwest. Designed for both beginners and experienced survivalists, this event brings together hands-on survival education, team-based competition, camping, live entertainment, meals, and an incredible outdoor community.
Over the course of the weekend, two-person teams will compete in six survival challenges. Before each challenge, competitors receive a 30-minute skills lesson taught by experienced survival experts and celebrity instructors. Then, teams immediately put what they just learned to the test in a 60-minute challenge. Three challenges take place on Saturday and three more on Sunday, creating a full weekend of learning, strategy, teamwork, and competition.
This year’s event is hosted by Joel Van Der Loon from Alone Season 7 and features an incredible lineup of survival experts, including Biko Wright from Alone Season 8, Karie Lee Knoke from Alone Season 9, Danny Graves from Naked and Afraid, and Wild Mountain Man Dan. We are also excited to feature Dr. Natalie Bonthius and her company Survival Med, bringing world-class wilderness medicine, emergency preparedness, and survival psychology expertise to the event.
What makes the PNW Survival Games unique is that it is not just about who has the most outdoor experience. Every team gets the same instruction before each challenge, which means the real advantage goes to the people who can learn quickly, think creatively, solve problems under pressure, and work well as a team. Beginners absolutely have a chance to compete, and experienced survivalists will still be challenged.
Unlike a traditional race or obstacle course, the PNW Survival Games focuses on practical emergency survival situations. Competitors will face challenges involving fire, shelter, water, navigation, tools, first aid, teamwork, and outdoor resilience. Some primitive bushcraft skills are included, but the primary focus is on realistic survival scenarios using a mix of traditional and modern survival techniques.
Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend. Spectator passes include meals, camping access, the opportunity to sit in on survival lessons, watch the competition unfold, enjoy live music, and be part of an unforgettable weekend in the wild.
Whether you want to compete, learn, camp, support the mission, or simply experience something completely different, the PNW Survival Games is built to be approachable, educational, exciting, and memorable.
