Are you an actor between the ages of 9 and 15? Are you available after
school Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4pm to 6pm? Then what are
you waiting for? Sign up now for one (or more) of the Majestic
Theatre’s Youth Production Company’s Spring mini-sessions! Our
Spring MTYP program is divided into three two-week sessions to allow
young thespians who are unable to commit to six-week sessions to have
a chance to shine onstage! Students may sign up for more than one
session if they so choose. Rather than a full weekend performance, on
the last Thursday of the mini-sessions students will showcase their
hard work right after the final class. Families and friends are
welcome to join us in the Community room from 6:30-7:00 for the
showcase. Each session is designed to focus on building skills in one
of three main elements of acting: movement, voice, and character.
This session introduces the art of Stage Combat. Students will explore
the fundamentals of unarmed and armed stage combat, learning
techniques such as punches, falls, and basic sword fighting. The class
will emphasize safety, precision, and creating believable performances
through intentional movement. Actors will get the chance to apply
these skills to scene work, learning how physicality can help create
multi-dimensional characters and enhance story-telling through
fighting.
