DELIVERING BAKED GOODS FROM SAFEWAY TO URBAN GLEANERS - FIRST SATURDAY MORNING Each MONTH One of the focuses of Positive Charge! has been doing what we can to help address the hunger crisis in our community. One way we do this is by participating with other organizations in a rotating schedule to pick up and deliver day-old bakery items at the SAFEWAY ON BARBUR and DELIVERING THEM TO URBAN GLEANERS on the Eastside. URBAN GLEANERS REDISTRIBUTES 60,000 lbs. of food each MONTH FROM RESTAURANTS, grocery stores, and bakeries to feed 4,000 people each week in school pantries, at summer farmers' markets, and through mobile pantries in low-income communities.
