CONTEMPORARY, an annual juried exhibition showcasing regional emerging
artists living in and around the Philadelphia area. Philadelphia is a
known breeding ground for the arts offering multiple graduate programs
that shape multitudes of young professional artists each year. Many of
these artists continue to live and work in the region. The purpose of
this juried exhibition is to showcase local emerging contemporary
artists, create a platform for critical discourse through an exchange
of ideas, and to push the boundaries of an age-old practice. In
addition to the exhibition, we invite the Juror to lecture about their
personal work and practice. The artist lecture is open to the public
and is typically presented in the large auditorium, funded by the
Communication, Arts & Humanities Division at Delaware County
Community College. We highly encourage members of the community and
beyond to attend the artist lecture followed by the art opening in an
effort to provide a space to learn, observe, and experience critical
issues within contemporary art. 2019 Juror: Jodi Throckmorton Curator
of Contemporary Art Jodi Throckmorton joined PAFA in fall of 2014. As
PAFA’s Contemporary Curator, Throckmorton oversees PAFA’s
contemporary art exhibitions and acquisitions. Register for the
