Fourth at the Fort

Sat 4 July 2026
11:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Kick off America’s 250th birthday at historic Point State Park for a special FOURTH AT THE FORT CELEBRATION AT THE FORT PITT MUSEUM AND FORT PITT BLOCK HOUSE. Join costumed re-enactors, local veterans, scouts, elected officials, and museum staff to ceremoniously raise a 36-foot American flag as part of a moving patriotic ceremony to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The ceremony — an annual Fourth of July tradition in Pittsburgh — will take place in the Fort Pitt Block House yard, thanks to an ongoing partnership with the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Built in 1764, the Block House remains the oldest surviving building in Western Pa. After the ceremony, spend the afternoon immersed in Revolutionary-era excitement with booming cannon firings, martial music, living history demonstrations, and hands-on family fun throughout the site. Step inside the Fort Pitt Museum to explore the new exhibition, Pittsburgh’s Revolution, which examines Western Pa.’s critical role in the American Revolution through rare artifacts, immersive storytelling, and powerful personal accounts from the Revolutionary frontier. On view in the exhibit is an original Westmoreland Battalion flag, bearing the iconic rattlesnake and defiant revolutionary era motto “DONT. TREAD. ON. ME.,” alongside Revolutionary War weapons, manuscripts, and objects connected to the people who shaped the fight for independence in the West. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in the very spot where history happened. ADMISSION Admission to the Fourth at the Fort event is free, but regular admission applies to enter the Fort Pitt Museum and access its exhibitions.
